Sprouting Threads

Disclosure: This complimentary box was received for review purposes. All opinions are my own and no compensation was received.

Raise your hand if you are a busy mama?! I’m pretty sure that the word busy is synonymous with the word mom. In fact I don’t know a single mom that claims to have “spare” time. Being busy just goes with the territory I guess!

IMG_2646.JPG

That’s why I was so excited to learn about Sprouting Threads, a new solution to buying kid’s clothing. Sure it’s easy buying clothes when babes are young, but once they get older (and have an opinion of their own!) it gets much harder!

Ari is at an awkward size lately. He’s in between a 4 and a 5 and certainly has an opinion on the clothes he wears. Wrangling him into a fitting room to try on clothing while his sister runs amok isn’t exactly at the top of my todo list.

Sprouting Threads is the perfect solution to this! Similar to Stitch Fix for adults Sprouting Threadsis for kids ages 2-8 and allows you to try on hand selected clothing in the comfort of your own home. Keep what you like and send back what you don’t! Members are also given the option to “rethread” (or send pieces back after their child outgrows them) for store credit.  A $20 styling fee is refunded when keeping 2 or more new pieces. Prices vary depending on what is kept. Free shipping both ways.

The process was so simple. I filled out a style profile for Ari, added his stats, and then gave a little description of his clothing interests. You can select how often you want the clothes to arrive and how many outfits you want. They have 4 main style profiles; sporty, vintage, classic, and funky. We got an outfit from each category!

The box arrived super fast and everything was packaged so nice!

IMG_2606

Based on your needs you can receive clothing from 4 different categories; Sporty, Vintage, Classic, & Funky. We received an outfit from each category.

IMG_2671

Ari immediately wanted to try on his “Sporty” outfit because little man is all about being cozy. We got Go Gently pencil pants ($38) and a Wes & Willy Moose pullover hoodie ($38). This outfit was the perfect comfy outfit while still looking cool! Ari loved it!

The next outfit he tried on was his “Vintage” look. The shirt was a Wheat Is button down ($52) and Viera Rose suspender jeans ($56). I can’t tell you how much I adore these skinny jeans. They are just what I have been looking for for quite some time! They fit him perfect and I am SO glad these were picked out for him! I think these jeans were MY personal favorite item of the whole box!

Next he tried on his “Funky” outfit and I think he enjoyed this one the most!! The sweater/shirt from Mini Shatsu ($42) was made to look like a cardigan with a bow tie and the red Tooby skinny jeans ($42) were the perfect fit for him. He immediately told me he could wear these to preschool! Ari normally doesn’t like jeans if they fit too tight so I put that on his style profile. I also put that he was in between sizes and Sprouting Threads knew which pants to send in a 4 and which to send in a 5!

Last up he tried his “Classic” outfit. The Andy & Evan open check shirt ($39.90) was meant to be worn under the Andy & Evan bicycle sweater ($46) with the dark elastic waist Kitestrings jeans ($44). I didn’t think I would care much for the classic outfit but I was incredibly impressed with the fit! Ari LOVED the elastic waist jeans and kept them on the rest of the day! The leather elbow patches were just adorable too!

The whole experience was very smooth and I really enjoyed seeing what someone else would pick for my son! With the holidays coming I thought how great this subscription would be as a gift!

You can opt for monthly or seasonal deliveries and can get between 2 and 5 outfits per delivery (your choice). Read more about the company here. If you want to give it a try go ahead and sign up here for your risk free box! The $20 styling fee will go towards any items you keep and now through December 15 you can save an additional 25% with the code BESTDRESSED25!

Fresh Apparel: Holiday Must Have!

12242074_10107481566023534_1268823692_n

I’ve written about Fresh Apparel in the past… their products are amazing and their designs are always on point. Every item that I have received from them has gotten a lot of love! So it’s no surprise that I am obsessed with their Holiday lineup!

It’s not the holidays without a night spent watching Elf and when I saw this tee I just about died.

Elf_Kids_medium

The slogan was perfect and the fact that it was unisex was even better. Both my babes can rock this tee all season long. I call that a mom win!

The shirts are American Apparel raglans and are so soft. No complaints from the babes on texture and they wash well!

Head over to Fresh Apparel and browse the rest of their holiday line of tees and sweatshirts! There is something for everyone and you will NOT be disappointed with your purchase!

Merry Christmas ya filthy animal?! Hilarious. I cannot wait to rock this!

As always use code “BESTDRESSEDBABES” at checkout for free shipping!

Freshly Picked-Can’t Get Enough!

Ahhh I am so excited to be sharing these moccs with all of you yet again!

IMG_2059

IMG_0680

I’ve blogged about Freshly Picked in the past and frankly I just cannot get enough.

Read about how well they have held up here!

IMG_0676

These moccasins are so durable and comfy that my babes and I just keep coming back for more.  When Freshly Picked released the new Fall line I just knew Giada needed the Leopard is a Neutral pair. They screamed her name and I knew they would go with so much of her Fall wardrode…especially her fur vest!

IMG_0678

Giada is starting to get extremely opinionated about her apparel and given the choice she always seems to gravitate towards her moccs. I think it’s because she can easily put them on herself!

Not only did Freshly Picked send us these amazing Leopard moccs, but they are also giving away a FREE PAIR to one of my followers! Head over to my facebook page to enter!

Best Dressed Riding Hood

I am so excited to share our Halloween costumes with all of you!

02_697_full

I’m pretty certain this will be the last year that I get to choose their costumes, so I wanted some photos to document the cuteness! We met Mac from Buchanan House Photography at a local park and I can’t say enough good words about her and her work! It was a hot day and the babes were less than thrilled to be in their costumes in the woods, but Mac was so patient and even convinced them to play a game to she could get the right shot!

03_698_full

Buchanan House Photography offers many different portrait options and we went with a mini-session that lasts typically lasts 30 minutes. It was the perfect time frame to get some great images of the babes!

When deciding what they should be I wanted them to be something that coordinated, but didn’t seem too juvenile for Ari. Hey, he needs to keep his street cred while matching his little sister! I also wanted something that my hubs and I could easily match too! When we go out as a family my hubs will be a huntsman and I will be the Granny ;).  Growing up my brother and I usually had homemade costumes made by my Grandma or passed down from older cousins. I really wanted to find costumes that were homemade and not found in a store! I stumbled upon two etsy shops; See Sal Sew & One Two Three Shop that made us the most beautiful costumes I could have ever imagined!  If something is handmade it is always a little more special to me as it reminds me of my Grandma who used to sew just about everything for me!

Giada’s dress & cape were from One Two Three Shop. Her dress is made with an elastic waist and NO zipper. I don’t know about your kids, but mine don’t love zippers touching them like a lot of other costumes. The dress is full enough to add a tutu skirt underneath for extra flair and the cape comes all the way to the ground.  It will help keep little miss warm in the event we have chilly Michigan Halloween (which is 99% likely) and there is plenty of room to layer underneath! They have lots of other costumes and handmade dresses and One Two Three Shop is offering 15% off any purchase now until October 15 with code redriding15.

12_707_full

Most of the wolf costumes I found online seemed very young/cartoony looking. I wanted his costume to look realistic and not like he was in a “baby” costume. When I saw this one I just about died. It was exactly what I was looking for! Ari’s costume came with a handmade hat (that is so intricate and realistic looking), gloves with fur, and a tail. Depending on the weather he will be wearing a black jogging suit that he already owns!  See Sal Sew is a mom run shop in MD. She makes a variety of other costumes too and will take custom orders via private message on etsy! Let her know I sent you!

09_704_full

These images are so near and dear to me. When I think about how few Halloweens I will get with them being little I get a little teary eyed. They just seem to grow up so fast.  Because Mac is pretty sweet, Buchanan House Photography is offering a FREE Halloween mini session for one follower too! Head over to facebook to enter! Details announced 9/17 at 9pm.

*30 minute shoot in Rochester or Shelby Twp with 3 5×7’s included.

OK… On to the good stuff. What did I buy!?!?

I spent $50 on the dot and I got the babes some pretty awesome Fall clothing! I wanted stuff that would work for layering and I was so excited to find all this!

19

This denim shirt for Giada was $2 and the possibilities for it are endless! I envision her wearing some cute boots and a big headband, of course!

23

This chambray shirt and maroon H&M corduroy skirt will look awesome with some mustard tights she already has!

15

This was my most expensive combo but all the pieces can be used separately or all together! The coral jean jacket was from Crew Cuts!!

21

Last outfit is that denim shirt again with a bubble skirt/legging combo. G just loves skirts and I know she will want to add a fun necklace with this outfit!

20

I got Ari some pretty awesome Fall stuff too!

Clockwise from top left: (Zara sweater, True Religion button down, Gap button down, lightweight Northface, and Zara pants).

16

While I was there I was immediately drawn to the HUGE selection of shoes….unfortunately they weren’t the right sizes for my babes, but take a look at how awesome these are (and all were marked $5 and under)!

I also found a TON of Under Armor for bigger boys!

… an amazing deal on a Britax B-Agile!

And tons of Halloween costumes!

They See Me Rolling { Double Stroller Tips }

IMG_8495

I’m in a few “mom” support groups on Facebook and I cannot tell you how often we talk about double strollers. Do I need one? Should I get a tandem? What about side by side? Does it have to be compatible with my infant seat?

1157692_10103766754505594_1917454288_nm

My babes are 22 months apart and for us a double stroller was 100% needed. There wasn’t any way shape or form I was going to let my 22 month old walk for any extended period of time.

After researching and hunting for nine months we decided on the Britax B-Agile double stroller. The side by side style seemed most suitable for us and it folded up so small!

4447483254147m

I opted to not use a car seat convertor for my double stroller and here is my reasoning…

First, the convertor was an additional $70+. I thought that was outrageous! Second I tested out the convertor bar in the store and just didn’t feel like it was a good fit. It made the stroller seem a lot bulkier and I didn’t want to have to take the bar in and out each time I used my stroller. Instead I got this newborn insert and put Giada in the stroller completely flat.

A few tips for you to decide.

1. Acutally test out the stollers! I went to Buy Buy Baby several times before I made my final decision and walked around the store with each model I was considering. I found that the tandem strollers were a lot harder to maneuver vs the side by side strollers.

1043901_10103551465736014_1883488560_n

2. Check out the storage situation. The Britax B-Agile double had easy access to the basket from the front!! So when my diaper bag was hanging I could easily get underneath!

IMG_8492

3. Consider if the canopy’s are individual or one large shade. You might want your infant covered, but your toddler will have other plans.

FullSizeRender1

4. Practice folding the stroller closed and fitting it in your vehicle. Buy Buy Baby is great about that and will let you! Some strollers are very large when folded and don’t fit easily in trunks.

1000268_10104586552329184_967668194_n

5. Consider buying second hand! We’ve used ours for 2 summers and are just about done with it. It’s in mint condition so I’m sure other’s will be as well!

Happy Stroller Shopping!

You are the Key to my Success { Teacher Gift }

I cannot believe how packed our schedule is from now until the end of the school year! Seriously May is Cray. In order to get “ahead” of the game I organized Ari’s end of the year teacher gifts today on my lunch hour! I love throwing together simple (and useful!) gifts that don’t take me forever to assemble.

IMG_8375

I got these super cute lanyards from Trendy Stop on Etsy and they are the cutest ever! This shop has so many different colors, patterns, and has the fastest turnaround time!

FullSizeRender1

The lanyards arrived SO fast and had easy open clips on the end. I don’t know about you but I absolutely hate normal key rings. It never fails that I mess my nails up on them!

FullSizeRender2

I also picked up some Starbucks gift cards to add to the lanyard and used a hole punch so I could attach them.

Hint: make sure not to punch through the barcode!

FullSizeRender

Ta Da! Now what teacher couldn’t use an extra lanyard & a gift card to Starbucks?

Last, every gift needs a card! I made a quick personalized little card on my favorite app ever; A Beautiful Mess (if you don’t have it, get it!) and sent it to be printed at Walgreens via their app. Less than an hour later they were ready to go!IMG_8281  I added a “From Ari” to our cards but left this blank in case anyone wanted to borrow it! Printing to Walgreens from your phone is so convenient and easy! Give it a try!

IMG_8376

There you have it! A teacher gift in under and hour!

Go order your lanyards from Trendy Stop and tell her I sent you!

In case you wanted some other Teacher Gift ideas here are some others I have done:

Endless Fun

Thanks a Latte

Bright Design Studios

I’m so excited to share this shop with all of you!! Not only does Bright Design Studios make stuff for the babes, they also make stuff for us moms too! I found this shop a few weeks back when I was looking for some personalized plastic plates.

FullSizeRender2

I just loved all the bright colors and designs they had to offer! We went with a floral pattern for Giada and a batman one for Ari. When they arrived I was very impressed with how vibrant the colors were!

The babes LOVED the plates! Instead of the same ole plates, these jazz up our dinnertime!

IMG_6266

Not only do the plates look cute, but they are made of break resistant, durable melamine and are 10 inches in diameter! Thay left plenty of room for a full dinner without anything touching. I put these to the test and sent them through the dishwasher several times. They looks as good as new still!

Sometimes kids these days have SO many toys and clothes I just don’t know what to buy for birthday gifts….these would make a GREAT personalized gift for a little one! Head over to etsy to browse the many designs offered. If there isn’t something exactly as you like Bright Design Studio offers custom options as well!

FullSizeRender5

Check out all these other great options! Platters, plates, placemats…..and for Mama- Cosmetic Bags!

FullSizeRender3

FullSizeRender4 I was so PUMPED to get these cosmetic bags with my monogram on them!  They were SO much larger than I expected and again the colors were so vibrant!

FullSizeRender1

These bags are the PERFECT gift. Think moms, teachers, graduates…what lady wouldn’t want a cute new monogrammed cosmetic bag?! I would absolutely love to get one of these as a gift!

Friday Favorites: Summer is Coming!

Happy Friday! I am linking up with Momfessionals today to share my Friday Favorites.  I’m crossing my fingers that Summer is truly coming because most of my favorite things this week have to do with Summer!!

untitled

Monday was opening day of baseball!! Go Tigers! My mom got the kids Best Cookies By Farr and they were pretty amazing as usual! No one makes cookies like she does! If you are in the Metro Detroit area do yourself a favor and get these for your next party…she will not disappoint!

IMG_5085

My sister in law is getting married in September and we are planning her shower for June. Ari & Giada are the ring bearer and flower girl! I think I finally decided on shower outfits for them! This dress from Anchors and Eyelets is named Estelle (after Giada Estelle)! The mint and pink are perfect for a summer shower!

Dress, Shirt, Shorts

IMG_5332

I’ve been planning a joint birthday Luau for the summer for several months now. Ari will be 4 and Giada 2. PS. How did that happen?! This week Dollar Tree put out all their Luau supplies, so guess who had a field day on her lunch hour this week? I have so many fun things planned for this bash!

FullSizeRender1

Speaking of their birthday I have been researching play sets for what seems like MONTHS. Instead of gifts for their birthday we are getting them a play set that they will use for several years! They have so many clothes and toys and I know they will truly enjoy this the most! I think I FINALLY decided on the Clarington Resort from Cedar Summit. What I love most about it is the flower planters and the twirly slide!

IMG_5328IMG_5329

I was lucky enough to have some “Mom-Time” this week and I went to a concert in downtown Detroit. I thought it was quite fitting waking up the next morning to this ecard. Definitely my favorite one I’ve seen in a long time!

IMG_5284

I also wanted to share my FAVORITE once a week beauty treat. A glass of wine + my Rodan & Fields microdermabrasion paste. I use this in addition to my skincare regimen at least once a week! It’s a salt/sugar scrub with vitamins C & E, has a high-glide, oil-free formula and is designed to promote maximum gentle exfoliation. My skin feels so smooth and soft after I use it!

FullSizeRender3

It’s been SO liberating to go places without a stroller lately! Giada thinks she’s SO big getting to walk and Ari helps me by holding her hand! This week we went shopping and Ari and I (aka me)kept lifting Giada on 3. Pretty sure they both thought it was the coolest thing ever.

FullSizeRender2

Speaking of letting Giada walk in stores she was doing her own thang in Meijer and HAD to choose her own bananas! I just love seeing my baby girl grow into her own independent self!

IMG_5323

It was nice enough to play outside one day this week and the babes loved it! I’m hoping more nice weather is here stay!

Don’t forget to enter my giveaway on Facebook for a chunky necklace/bracelet set from AK’s Hidden Gems! Have a great weekend!

Everytime I come around your city, Bling Bling

So…. it all started when Giada was around 6 months old….

IMG_20140313_162435

I would dress her up and put her in one of my necklaces…It made picture taking easy because instead of trying to escape, she was infatuated with the necklace around her neck.IMG_20140324_111712

Fast forward to now. Giada is almost 2, although sometimes it seems like she’s almost 22, and I still give her necklaces to wear when I want her to smile for a picture.  The only difference now? She won’t take them off.

FullSizeRender (2)

I came to the realization that Giada needed her own collection of jewelry.  If you know me by now you will know I don’t do anything in moderation. She couldn’t have just one necklace to wear with her entire wardrobe?!?!?

….and so I was on the hunt for someone to make us a collection FAST!

IMG_4537

Insert AK’s Hidden Gems, a local Shelby Township mom that makes the cutest jewelry for moms and babes! I messaged her pics of Giada’s clothes and she quickly made us a plethora of necklaces and bracelets to coordinate.

 IMG_3740

The sets are made for children and are sized appropriately.  Like any potentially hazardous item, though, I never leave Giada wearing her jewelry unattended.
