What a year it has been!
We spent the beginning of 2013 preparing for our baby girl that was on the way. We spent many hours shopping for her and making sure her nursery was just so. Along with preparing for Giada, Mike and I both soaked up the last few months of having Ari as our “only child”. Life as he knew it was going to change drastically and we wanted him to have a smooth transition from only child to big brother. In April he moved bedrooms to a new “big boy” room and began sleeping in a “big boy” bed.
In June we welcomed Giada to our family. I spent years dreaming of a little girl of my own and I still can’t believe she is really mine. Little did I know meeting her wasn’t the best part. The moment when Ari came to visit, took her hand, and kissed her…that, that was the best part about meeting my little girl. She was instantly part of our family and her brother just adored her.
The next 12 weeks following Giada’s birth will go down as the best I’ve ever had. Transitioning from 1 to 2 children was much easier than going from 0 to 1. I knew was I was doing and I also knew that the time I had off work was probably going to be the ONLY time in my life that I would have that much consecutive time off with my kids. I savored every moment. It was the summer; the nights seemed to last forever and the opportunities with these two were endless. We spent our mornings on play dates and our evenings on family walks. I really took advantage of this time and will never forget that gift of time I was given.
Like anything, the fun had to end and I returned back to work a couple of days before Labor Day. We spent most of the Fall settling into a new routine as a family of 4. Before we knew it the holidays came and went in the blink of an eye.
Our family is now complete. 2013 was one of the best years of my life.
